Fear and the Vampire

A deadly partnership stalking their prey
in the shadow of night sharp sure teeth, clinging claws,
The first immobilizes
The second terrorizes.
Tearing timid flesh, searing severing pain,
Each working for the others gain,
Fear like a cloak,
    Twisting,
And turning around him a swirling shadow,
Preceding their death as realization
  Of who he is hits them.
And endless macabre massacre as master and servant
Gorge upon the feast of their naive blood,
